Before you book

Questions, answered.

Everything riders ask us before they click Book: fitness, kids, language, weather, cancellation.

01Do I need a driver's license? Can we ride in parks?
+
No license, no permits, no problem. Our e-bikes are EU-certified pedelecs (max 25 km/h, 250 W) – legally treated as regular bicycles across the EU. That means no driver's license, no paperwork, no license-based age limit. You can ride them anywhere a normal bike can go: bike lanes, riverside paths, parks, forest trails, cobblestone streets, the whole historic centre. Nothing to show, nothing to worry about. The only requirement is reaching the pedals.
02Do I need to know how to ride a bike?
+
Yes – but barely. If you've ridden a bike at any point in your life, you're set. Just pedal lightly – the e-motor adds power on hills and into the wind. No clipless pedals, no fancy gears to fight. Nervous riders should ask for the E-City Cruiser – upright posture, low step-over, and a cushioned saddle make it the easiest ride in the lineup.
03Are kids welcome? What's the minimum age?
+
We recommend riders be 15 or older. Younger riders aged 12–14 can join if they're at least 150 cm and 50 kg, come with a parent, and already ride confidently with some experience – just contact us in advance so we can set it up. Everyone gets a quick test ride before we roll out.
04What if it rains on my booked date?
+
Prague weather likes to keep us on our toes – here's how we handle it. Heavy rain, snow, or ice that forces us to cancel means a 100% refund. Light rain? The tour still runs and we hand you a free rain poncho at the start. The final weather call is made right before the tour starts – we'd rather ride than cry off on a forecast.
05How fit do I need to be? Are there hills?
+
Barely at all – that's the whole point of electric. The motor flattens Prague's hills (yes, all the way up to the Castle and Letná) while you just steer and soak in the view. If you can walk for a couple of hours, you've got this.
06Where do we meet, and what should I bring?
+
We meet at Saská 7, Malá Strana – a two-minute walk from Charles Bridge on the castle side. Arrive 30 minutes early for check-in, your helmet and a quick test ride, and bring a valid ID or passport. We don't do hotel pickups, but we're dead central and easy to find.
07What language are the tours in?
+
Our tours run in English and Czech. Need something else? Ask ahead and we'll see what we can line up.
08How far in advance should I book?
+
Earlier is safer. We ride in small groups and the best slots – sunset especially – fill up fast in spring and summer. A few days ahead is usually fine; for peak season or a specific time, book as soon as you know.
09What's the weight limit?
+
Our bikes, SCROOSERs and choppers are built for riders up to 130 kg (about 285 lb).
10Which ride should I choose – e-bike, SCROOSER, or chopper?
+
All three ride the same Grand City route – it's just how you roll. E-bike: classic seated ride with light pedalling – the motor boosts every push, so hills disappear. SCROOSER: stand-up with a hand throttle on fat tyres – no pedalling, rock-stable, a head above the crowd. Chopper: low-slung, laid-back cruiser – sit deep, legs out front, pedal-assist. It's sit-and-pedal, stand-and-glide, or cruise-low. Still torn? Try the Match-my-ride quiz, or just ask us.
11Can we mix e-bikes, SCROOSERs and choppers in one group?
+
Absolutely. If your group wants a mix of pedal, glide and cruise, we'll set up a mixed fleet – just let us know when you book.
12Do you do private tours or extra bikes for bigger groups?
+
Our shared rides run in small groups – that's what makes the tour great. Got a bigger crew? Private rides for up to 40 people can be arranged – email info@scroosertour.com and we'll put it together.
13Can I leave my luggage with you?
+
Yes – our office is secure and we're happy to mind your bags before or after the ride.
14Can I rent a bike or SCROOSER without a guide?
+
We're guided-only, on purpose. A local guide keeps you out of restricted zones, finds the best photo angles, and hands you the stories you'd never get solo – it's the difference between a rental and an experience.
15What's your cancellation policy?
+
Plans change – we get it. Cancel 48+ hours before your tour for a full 100% refund, no questions asked. Later cancellations (within 48h) can't be refunded, but you can still rebook for a 15% fee – or skip the fee entirely by adding Trip Protection at checkout. No-shows without notice aren't refundable. If you can't make it, reach us via the phone or email in your booking confirmation – social media messages don't count.
16Can I reschedule if my flight or bus is delayed?
+
Yes. If you added Trip Protection at checkout, rescheduling for a delayed flight, bus, or any unexpected situation is free of charge – just let us know at least 1 hour before the tour starts. Without Trip Protection, a change inside 48h carries a 15% fee. Either way: reach us via the phone or email in your confirmation, not via social media.
